Living Free: The Daily Practice of Authenticity

Jul 09, 2025

Authenticity isn’t just a state of being you arrive at once and stay there forever. It’s a living, breathing dance with yourself—your growth, your circumstances, your heart. This episode is for you if you’ve been doing the hard work of uncovering your truth and are now asking, How do I live it?

Authenticity in Motion

Walking in our truth is not something you check off a to-do list. Authenticity is not a finish line you cross. It is a direction you keep returning to.

For a long time, I believed that if I just uncovered who I truly was—the version of me beneath the programming and pressure—I would instantly and permanently live as her. But I quickly realized authenticity doesn’t work like that. Knowing your truth is one thing. Living from that truth is something else entirely.

There was a time when I tried to make what I did appear authentic—striving to be genuine in my actions, words, and decisions. But true authenticity doesn’t come from doing. It flows from being. From embodying. From aligning.

And here’s the truth: even after we’ve done the deep work, there are still external expectations, old habits, and past conditioning pulling at us. We can easily slip back into those filtered versions of ourselves—the ones we worked so hard to move beyond.

But that’s okay. Do not be worried if there is more work to be done, if you don’t feel it all 100% yet. Just know you are right where you are supposed to be.

Authenticity is a practice. A rhythm. A return.

Embodying Authenticity in Daily Life

So what does it look like to live authentically, day in and day out?

It looks like showing up whole in your decisions, your boundaries, your relationships, your reactions, and your celebrations. It looks like:

  • Processing your emotions instead of avoiding them
  • Setting clear boundaries and honoring them
  • Speaking your truth, even when your voice shakes
  • Advocating for your needs without apology
  • Choosing priorities that reflect your values
  • Navigating triggers with awareness and grace
  • Celebrating your joys fully, without guilt

And you will not always get it right, and that's ok. I don’t either. I still have moments and days where I notice myself slipping back into a filtered version of myself.

When this happens, I want you to:

Stop, Pause, and Check-in.

Ask Yourself these 3 questions:

  • Is this behavior aligned with who I really am?
  • Am I making decisions based on my truth and desire or fear?
  • What would my authentic self want to do in this moment?

When you take the time to stop, to pause, and listen, your authentic self will speak up. Now it’s time for us to start listening.

  1. Is this behavior aligned with who I really am?
  2. Am I making this decision from truth or fear?
  3. What would my authentic self choose right now?

These small questions create big shifts. Each moment offers you a new invitation to return.

Reflection + Reveal Practice

As you move forward in your authentic reveal, more of your true authentic self will be revealed over time. You will experience a feeling of belonging at times when you are walking in your true design, and there will be times when you feel your old self creeping back in, falling back into the patterns and ways of yesterday.

And as you are learning to integrate, I want you to take a moment to slow down, let's stop, pause, and listen.

Let’s slow down together.

Reflection Practice:

Take a breath. Place your hand on your heart if it feels right. Let’s ask ourselves:

  • Where in my life am I still showing up filtered—out of fear, habit, or conditioning?
  • What part of me is still performing for others?
  • Where do I feel parted out or fragmented?

And now let’s gently flip the script:

  • What would my authentic self do differently in this space?
  • What truth am I afraid to embody in my daily life?
  • What’s one small step I can take this week to live that truth?

Reveal Practice:

Choose one small moment each day to act, speak, or decide from your authentic self. Maybe that means saying no when you usually say yes. Wearing what feels like you. Sharing your opinion. Speaking your needs. Do it on purpose.

Because every time you return to your truth, you are practicing freedom.

I created a FREE Cheatsheet to help you Stop. Pause. Listen. You can download it HERE.  Keep it where you can see it and reference it often.

Key Takeaways:

  • Authenticity isn’t something you achieve—it’s something you become moment by moment

  • You won’t always get it right, and you don’t need to—that’s part of the process

  • Embodying your authentic self shows up in your boundaries, priorities, emotions, and choices

  • The more you return to yourself, the more naturally freedom begins to unfold

  • Every moment is a new chance to realign, recommit, and live free

Final Thoughts

Living authentically isn’t a final destination.

It’s a faithful direction.

Some days, it flows with ease. Other days, it feels like resistance and rawness. But each time you choose your true self over performance—each time you return to the person you were designed to be—you are reclaiming your freedom.

Your authentic self has been there all along.

Beneath the noise.

Beneath the fear.

Beneath the roles you’ve played to survive.

And now? It’s time to live from that place.

Wholly. Authentically. Freely.
